About the course

Develop practical network security skills through a series of self-paced, hands-on labs covering the technologies and techniques used to protect network infrastructure, systems, and communications.

The course introduces host-based firewalls, access control, secure network services, VPNs, intrusion detection, authentication, and network security hardening across Windows and Linux environments.

Learners will gain hands-on experience configuring Windows and Linux firewalls, controlling incoming and outgoing traffic, implementing access control lists, and securing DHCP and DNS services.

The course also covers configuring VPNs using PPTP and OpenVPN, implementing and securing RIP and RIPv2, and establishing site-to-branch VPN connectivity.

Practical labs introduce intrusion detection using Snort, including the creation of custom detection rules, as well as RADIUS configuration, domain security, and techniques for identifying and closing common security gaps.

By completing the labs, learners will develop a practical understanding of network defence and gain experience implementing security controls, monitoring network activity, securing communications, and hardening network environments.

The course provides a strong foundation for further study in network security, cybersecurity, and security operations.
