About the course

Develop practical IT administration skills through a series of self-paced, hands-on labs introducing Microsoft Windows Server 2019 and its core infrastructure management capabilities.

The course covers installing and configuring Windows Server 2019, including Server Core, establishing domain infrastructure, and using the Microsoft Assessment and Planning (MAP) Toolkit to support server assessment and planning.

Learners will also explore local storage management, virtual hard disks, backup and recovery, and the configuration of SMB and NFS file shares.

The labs provide practical experience in managing Windows Server environments, including centralized event logging, virtual machine networking, virtual machine settings and storage, server performance monitoring, and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS).

Additional activities focus on Active Directory administration, covering domain controller deployment and management, user and account administration, security groups, organizational units (OUs), and maintaining Active Directory.

Learners will also work through multiple labs on configuring and managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) to support centralized administration and consistent application of organizational settings.

The course connects core Windows Server concepts with practical administrative tasks, helping learners understand how to manage server infrastructure, maintain system availability, control access to resources, deploy updates, and support virtualized environments.

The Active Directory and Group Policy exercises reinforce the importance of centralized identity management, policy enforcement, and maintaining a structured domain environment.

By completing the labs, learners will develop foundational skills in Windows Server installation, storage and backup management, file sharing, virtualization, performance monitoring, event logging, update management, Active Directory, domain controllers, and Group Policy administration.

The course provides a practical foundation for further study and professional development in Windows Server administration, enterprise IT infrastructure, and systems management.
