Introduction to Network Security Tools
Self-paced
£199
About the course
Develop practical skills in network security assessment and monitoring through a series of self-paced, hands-on labs covering essential tools, protocols, and techniques used to understand and protect network environments.
The course introduces topology discovery and network scanning before progressing into network protocols, protocol analysis, vulnerability assessment, and security monitoring.
Learners will gain hands-on experience working with common protocols including HTTP, HTTPS, NetBIOS, TCP, and UDP, as well as analysing network traffic using protocol analysis tools.
The course also explores network vulnerability identification and scanning, routing protocols, common ports and services, and the role of spam filtering in network security.
The labs introduce important defensive security concepts including intrusion detection systems (IDS), firewalls, honeypots, and techniques used to understand firewall and IDS evasion.
By completing the course, learners will develop a practical foundation in network reconnaissance, security analysis, vulnerability assessment, and the use of network security tools in controlled environments.
