About the course
Develop practical cybersecurity skills through a series of self-paced, hands-on challenges designed to simulate real-world security incidents, adversarial activity, and digital investigations.
The course covers a broad range of offensive security, defensive operations, digital forensics, and incident investigation techniques, beginning with reconnaissance, perimeter security assessment, infiltration scenarios, and situational awareness within controlled cyber range environments.
Learners will work through challenges involving Kerberoasting, identifying critical assets, data exfiltration concepts, persistence techniques, and the investigation of attempts to conceal malicious activity.
Additional exercises focus on carving disk images, host-based and mobile forensics, Windows malware analysis, Linux reverse engineering, binary exploitation, searching through digital evidence, file recovery, and reconstructing attack sequences.
A final challenge involving debugging existing Python code helps develop practical troubleshooting and code analysis skills.
The labs provide opportunities to investigate simulated attacks, identify system and network weaknesses, analyse digital artefacts, recover evidence, and understand how adversarial techniques can affect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information.
Learners will also explore how forensic analysis and attack reconstruction can support incident response, threat investigation, and the development of effective defensive measures.
By completing the challenges, learners will develop practical skills in reconnaissance, security assessment, adversary technique analysis, digital forensics, malware analysis, reverse engineering, binary analysis, evidence recovery, and incident reconstruction.
The course provides a foundation for further study in penetration testing, digital investigations, threat hunting, and cybersecurity incident response. Offensive activities should be conducted only within authorised, controlled lab environments.
